July Holiday Camp Fun

Frosty fun at Camp Wombaroo keeps everyone warm & active!

The July School Holidays saw in excess of 100 young people come and join in our Day Camp Adventure Program.  The Highlands weather delivered bright chilly days and our young guests arrived ready for action wearing multiple layers, colourful beanies and gloves.  The cool temperatures didn’t dampen spirits and everyone launched themselves into our themed activity program which included, Viking Day, Harry Potter, Super Heroes, Survivor Day and lastly, Olympic Challenge!  It was great to see so many young regulars turn up for another camp, and also to welcome some new young people along to join in the fun.  We’re already starting to plan for our October program which is running from 3rd – 7th.  Online bookings will open soon so come and join us for some fun!

“My son was engaged, happy and thrilled to learn new outdoor and general social skills.  The staff were welcoming, responsible and considerate but most importantly for my child, “cool”. He came home each day full of stories, happy and tired and looking forward to the next camp.”  B. Ruscone

“My child was extremely happy with the staff.  He had only kind words for them.  I am grateful for all the care you’ve put into this camp.”  M. Rajendra

“Thank You Camp Wombaroo.  You offered variety, excitement, challenges and stimulation for my son. Perfect and necessary for all kids today.”  L. McRobbie

Camp Wombaroo Team Excel at Staff Awards Party

The Outdoor Education Group recently hosted its annual ‘Hewison Golden Backpacker Awards’ night, a formal evening that celebrates each and every one of our staff and the work of our organisation. There wasn’t a hiking boot in sight as our New South Wales staff primped and preened for their celebration in Moss Vale.  Our Victorian colleagues looked equally dapper as they held their celebration in Eildon.

Seven awards made up the presentation part of the evening and these are awarded to staff voted for by their peers.  Of those awards Camp Wombaroo did exceptionally well, with four of the seven awards going to the following:

  • Educator of the Year: Meghan Fuery
  • Employee of the Year: Kevin Stott
  • Excellence Award: Moyra Douglas
  • Hewison Award for Partnerships and Innovation: Stuart Whyte

Congratulations to all the nominees and award winners!

New Self Catering Facility at Camp Wombaroo

In addition to our new ensuite teacher rooms we now have a dedicated self-catering kitchen ideal for group sizes of up to 40 people.  The new facility comes complete with gas burners, oven, refrigerated storage, microwave and two dishwashers, in fact everything you need to provide catering for a group retreat or family gathering.

There is a dedicated dining room attached to the kitchen, and also sliding doors leading out onto a raised deck area. The deck provides a wonderful spot to take in the views of the surrounding paddocks and local wildlife.

New Teacher Accommodation at Camp Wombaroo

We know that school staff make incredible efforts to ensure the success of their school’s camp.  And we know that it’s nice to have additional comfort when you’re away from home.  That’s why we are pleased to announce Camp Wombaroo now has five newly refurbished ensuite teacher rooms – and it seems our guests are loving them!

The five twin bedded rooms are spread throughout the student accommodation allowing for easier supervision.  Each room comes complete with linen and tea and coffee making facilities. Well done to Chris, our Maintenance Manager, for completing this project which is clearly having a positive impact on our guests stay.

“The new staff facilities are fantastic. They are a real asset to the camp. Thanks for providing these”.

“Staff cabins exceeded expectations!”
